These are Birds of Paradise that have somehow grown UP as much as they have grown OUT. I have never seen them leave the ground this way- it certainly is spectacular!
Amazing, I am deeply moved by these trees. These trees have opened up a whole new chapter in my life, I am now ready to live my life to the grandest of elightenments, filled with joy and amazement throughout the years to be. Amazing trees.
This type of palm tree is called the Traneller’s Palm. The Travellers Palm, or Ravenala madagascariensis, is not a palm tree, it is a member of plant family Strelitziaceae. When you take a second look, it is not difficult to see the resemblance this plant has with the bird of paradise and the banana plant – of which it is a relation.
The proper botanical name spelling is Ravenala madagascariensisand common name is Traveler Palm. (singular) Hawaiian and other tropical locations through the world act as somewhat of a time machine for these beasts. I live in So. California and I would be lucky to ever see these plants get this tall, but throw some great tropical weather at them and 20 – 25yrs later…

Those are Traveler Palms. They grow through out central and South Florida but are not native to FL. You will not find them grow to these heights here in FL however they do grow to about 20ft. These pics are most likely from Madagascar since they are native to that country. I have one growing on the side of my house, it is best to keep them protected from high winds as to not shred up the large palm leaves as you see in the above picture.

I saw these trees for the first time in Hawaii a few years ago. I’ve also seen them in Disneyland, California.

These are decorative trees… you can find plenty of such trees in kolkata only they use banana instead of palm. these are not naturally like this.
These are definately Travellers trees after many years. They are indigenous trees of Madagscar. There many planted in Nairobi and Mombasa.

these are not actually a type of palm tree it is a type of helliconia
amazing! i don’t know if we have this kind of palm tree in my country. i have yet to see one in places i have already visited.

In Asia these are called fan palms. I had them in my garden when I lived in Myanmar and Singapore. They grow very tall and fan out wide.
